Barakhamba: Another spectacle of the Lodi Dynasty

Another beauty inspired by Islam architecture the Barakhamba Monument is one of the many 14th century monuments in Delhi. Built late during the Lodi Dynasty, the monument sits very close to the Hazrat Nizamuddin Ki Baoli. As the name suggests, the monument has 12 pillars, like several other monuments that were built during the time.

The 12 pillars hold the structure together, while there are 3 arched openings on each side. The square shaped monument features smaller domes on each corner with a huge dome at the centre. It is surrounded by a huge lawn park, where you relax or even have a small picnic. The monument has gone through some damage due to negligence, it is regularly under restoration, where attempts are made to give it its original appearance.
